Regulation (EU) 1169/2011 on the provision of food information to consumers

If you sell a packaged food product, Regulation (EU) 1169/2011 requires you to inform consumers about ingredients, allergens and nutrition information before placing it on the market. This template brings that data together in one document, ready to generate as PDF or Word every time a product changes.

This document is required by the regulation cited above.

What the template includes

  • Ingredients with QUID (quantitative ingredient declaration)
  • Declared allergens and possible traces
  • Nutrition declaration per 100 g/ml
  • Net weight and drained net weight
  • Storage conditions and shelf life
  • Barcode and manufacturer details

Is this document mandatory?

This document is required by the regulation cited above.

Who is this template for?

For food manufacturers, packers and distributors.

What happens if you don't have it

When an allergen is missing from the label, AESAN orders the product withdrawn from sale — it has happened several times in recent years (a Nestlé dessert in 2026, a Vicens nougat, meatballs sold by El Corte Inglés, an Eroski cured sausage), always because an allergen was missing from the ingredients list. Beyond the withdrawal, Regulation (EU) 1169/2011 is enforced through each region's food-safety sanction regime.
